PEARL HARBOR MEMORIAL - Wow, talk about powerful!  You hear about it your whole life and you learn about it, but it is so much different being there live and feeling the spirits of those who sacrificed their lives.  It was very humbling and so real to be there and to hear their stories.  Thank you to all the people in the armed forces.  We appreciate your service and sacrifice!

Meet Herb Weatherwax!  He is 99 years old and is a survivor of Pearl Harbor.  A true modern day hero.  It is amazing what these people do and what they go through.

This was Herb when he was a young man.  His picture is part of the museum of the attack on Pearl Harbor.  He has seen so much and been a part of so much.  It would be neat to just sit down and talk for hours with him about it all.  I am so thankful to people like Herb who have given everything.

Today was a day in school for the kids.  They learned a ton about a piece of American History.

This was a replica of the decoder that was used back in World War II.  There was a message to be decoded, and you had to take some time to decode it.  Braden and Maddi took the time to decode the message.  It's fun that they make it interactive like that.

On the Ferry to go to the Pearl Harbor Memorial.

The boat ride over.

One of the naval ships that you could go and take a tour of.  Back in 1941, there were 23 ships that were attacked.  Right away, the Americans started rebuilding and restoring the ships.  There are only three that are still in the waters of Pearl Harbor.  That is a huge Testament to the American Spirit!

The Memorial.

What a great memorial to those people who sacrificed their lives for our Freedoms.

A submarine that was on display in the Harbor as well.

We took the family on a hike up to a lighthouse.  It's called the Makapu'u lighthouse trail.

The view was amazing!  What a great State!  It's definitely different than what I thought it was going to be, but it has a great beauty and majesty about it.  We are staying up on the North Shore.  I love being up here so much better than in the hustle and bustle of Honolulu.
